Yesterday I ran the Allerton Trail Run (5.5 miles) through the gorgeous Allerton park in Monticello. I ran with my good friend Courtney; her husband Matt ran with us for about 30 seconds then decided we were much too slow :). It was the perfect day for it. The sun was shining, the leaves were beautiful shades of gold, red, and green, and the temperature was a perfect 50-55 degrees. I had such a good time running through the woods, and through small ponds (it has rained a lot here lately…so puddles are kind of ponds now). Unfortunately, Courtney turned her ankle about 2 miles into the race, so the rest of it was a slow jog/walk, but it was still an awesome way to start a Sunday. Neither one of us were particularly in great shape for the race, so we didn’t mind a nice walk in the woods.
When we got home, Jason and I watched a movie, then took Mojo for a nice long walk in Meadowbrook Park. It was such a beautiful day, we couldn’t miss out on it! We had fun wandering around the trail, checking out the sculptures, and talking to other dog owners. I wonder if having kids is the same as having a dog—you automatically feel like you have a connection to other people that have one.
After a lovely long walk, I had a great time at Starbucks with one of my former youth group girls. What a blessing she is!

AND, the best part of my day was NOT having to get ready for school on Monday! :) Instead, I got out my sewing machine, and worked on some projects I’ve had laying around. Ahh the joys of relaxation!
