Size: I don't know her length exactly. I tried to measure with a tape measure but she was squirming a lot. I'm guessing she's about 21-22 inches long. She weighed in today on our baby scale at 9 pounds, 8.5 ounces. That's 2 pounds, 5.5 ounces more than when she was born. Wow! I'm not very surprised. Her cheeks are super chubby now, and she definitely is getting arm and leg rolls. So cute. She has outgrown almost all of her NB sized clothes, and is wearing mostly 0-3 or 3 month stuff. It's a little big on her, but I'm sure it's more comfortable than the tight NB onsies she was wearing.
New things: In her first month of life, Annabelle has grown so much. She has a ton of personality now compared to when we first brought her home. She makes silly faces when she's breastfeeding, has different cries for different reasons, and has started focusing her eyes on us when we sit in front of her. She can track things with her eyes now, and has started reaching for things sometimes. She can also roll over from her tummy to her back! It's pretty incredible that she can do it already. I thought it was a fluke until she did it four times in one day. Another new thing we are dealing with is baby acne. It started out just a few small spots, but now her whole face is covered. A couple of people have recommended California Baby Calendula cream, so we bought some at Target (wow it's expensive!) and I'm hoping it helps. Poor thing :(
Sleep: I'm afraid I'm going to jinx it by saying it, but we have had a few good nights/days in a row now. We started a bedtime "routine" of bath/wipedown, pj's, breastfeeding, book/prayers, bed. I know she's too young to understand that it's a routine, and she's too young to comprehend book and prayers, but I'm hoping she starts to notice cues soon. We put her to bed between 6:30 ad 7:30 in her crib. She wakes up a little bit after about an hour, but if I leave her alone she puts herself back to sleep. After her first wake-up we move her to the co-sleeper/our bed with us. She sleeps about 2.5-3 hour chunks at a time before waking up to nurse. I have gotten up with her in the morning between 8 and 9. Her daytime sleep is starting to appear as a morning nap, a midday nap, and an afternoon nap. Each are about 2 hours long. I'm sure now that I wrote all that down it's going to completely change, but it has been nice the last three days to notice a sort of pattern.
Likes: Still loves bathtime and breastfeeding, and diaper changes. She loves being naked. When she is in a very awake state, she likes tummy time, but only for a little bit.
Dislikes: She doesn't like a bottle. She took it a couple of times, but mostly won't. It's fine for now, but she's going to have to get over it before too long! When I start working my few hours at Christie, Jason will have to be able to give her a bottle. We'll keep working on that one. She also still really hates her car seat, though her crying fits have shortened a bit. I hate hearing her cry hysterically from the back seat. It breaks mommy's heart :(
Fluff! (sorry for some poor photo quality)
