I promise, I will say that every time. I just can't get over it.
I also will probably continue to expound on how beautiful and smart she is, because she's my kid, and that's what moms do. Let the expounding begin...
Likes:
Nursing. Loves it. She nurses all the time, and anytime she is even slightly upset, the boob fixes the problem. It's great, I love being a human pacifier! Well, sometimes. Other times I want to super glue a pacifier to her mouth to get her to like it instead of just me, but I know that's abusive and wrong and really I would never do it. Sometimes I just want to.
Bathtime, still. I get in with her most of the time and she floats and kicks and gets this wide-eyed look of wonder on her face. It's adorable, and she smiles a lot, so I know she likes it.
Being held...another of Annabelle's favorites. She would like to be held all the time if she could. Most of the time I happily oblige because I know that sometime down the road, she's not going to want to be held anymore. And when that day comes, I know my heart will break into a million pieces, so I'm soaking up all of the holding time I can now. Yes it's tiring, yes it's sometimes annoying, and yes, I would like to put her down to get stuff done sometimes, but really, it's just special and wonderful.
Vibrating/bouncy chair.
Diaper changes.
The Baby Soother app I downloaded on my ipad. It has an ocean, a winter wonderland, and a desert landscape that lights up and plays music and has animals floating across the screen. It's a knockoff of this product, but is so much better because I can change the scene, and take it with me wherever we go. It hypnotizes her...amazing. Best $1.99 I ever spent.
The Moby Wrap
Sleeping with mom and dad.
Dislikes:
Car seat. Have I mentioned this enough? Probably.
Stroller. Because of the car seat.
Wet diapers. Wouldn't you?!
Bottles
Pacifiers
Little Tummies Gripe Water (makes the worst face ever when I give it to her)
Tri-Vi-Sol vitamins (tries to spit it out)
Weight: 11 pounds and 14 ounces, on her 2 month birthday. Now she's probably a good solid 12. She was in the 75th percentile for weight at her 1 month appointment, and I bet that's increased since then. I'm not surprised...she eats all the time. She's an emotional eater, just like her mommy ;) I've seen a few newborns in the past few weeks, and it makes me nostalgic already. She's wearing 3 month clothes now, and could probably even wear a few 3-6 or 6 month onesies or sleep-and-play sleepers.
Length: I'm not sure. We haven't had her 2 month appt. yet. I'm guessing 22 inches.
New things:
Smiling!! Oh the smiles!! They are amazing. These big, huge, toothless grins that just light up the whole room. I laugh every time she smiles because it is just so cute.
She's also using her voice a lot more, cooing and giggling, and we have pretend conversations pretty often.
Grabbing things. The first time she grabbed a toy in front of her was at Panera. I exclaimed to Tia that Annabelle is a genius. I'm guessing she's actually NOT, but it was pretty amazing to see her grab a toy within arms reach. Now she does it a little more consistently. She also grabs onto my shirt while nursing, and grabs onto my arm (pinches!) when she's mad.
She has stopped rolling from her tummy to her back. That was short lived. Oh well, she'll learn again soon!
During tummy time, she can now push up onto her forearms/elbows. I also exclaimed out loud to my empty house about what a genius she is when I saw that for the first time. I wonder if my utter amazement with her every move will ever pass...
Other:
We're working on her vaccine schedule right now. There is SO much information out there, it's hard to find reliable, trustworthy sources of information about vaccines and other potentially harmful things she could be faced with. I'll probably do a whole post about her vaccine schedule once we figure it out for sure. But, for now, I do know that we are not doing the CDC's recommended schedule, and we are not doing all of the vaccines. It's just a matter of figuring out when to do the ones we want. We are blessed to have a great pediatrician who is honest and up front about things, and open to working with parents to give their child the best care possible. This includes working on alternate vaccine schedules, so I'm really happy we're working with him.
We're also working on Annabelle's sleep. She doesn't nap well at all during the day unless she is being held (like right now--wearing her in the Moby, she's been asleep for an hour). We've tried tons of things to put her down, but the longest she stays asleep is about 20 minutes, tops. She obviously needs to sleep longer than that, so I hold her or wear her or nap with her, and that seems to work out okay. We still try to put her down for at least one nap per day in her crib, because I don't want her to think that every single nap means mommy will hold her. She also is not sleeping well at night, most of the time. She'll wake up every 2 hours and so we usually just pull her in bed with us so I can nurse her laying down and sleep through most of it. Last night though, we had an awesome night. She slept from 7:30-9:00 in my arms, then nursed, then slept for 4.5 hours in her co-sleeper, then nursed, then slept another 3 hours. After that she woke up more so we pulled her into bed. But that 4.5 hours was amazing. So was the 3 hours. I kept waking up to check her breathing to make sure she was okay. I'm hoping this is the start of a new trend so that mommy can get some sleep too!!
Fluff!
(I know, I have to get better about taking pictures of her, I only did it 3 different days this month! argh).
