Homemade Yogurt

After trying 3 different times with 3 different recipes, I FINALLY have made successful homemade, Greek style yogurt. I had success with this crockpot recipe, which was awesome because I didn't have to have the stove on or be home the whole time. To make it "greek" yogurt, I rubberbanded a towel over the top of a bowl, and let the yogurt strain over the bowl. I was amazed at how much liquid came out of it. It's nice and thick, and tastes great, and was cheaper than buying yogurt at the store (costs as much as the milk you use to make it). I'm so excited :)

Oh my. I wish I knew you were trying to make yogurt. I' started making it when Nathan turned a year so I could make whole milk yogurt for him (baby yogurt is really expensive). I use a jar method on the stove, then put them in an igloo overnight.
I also have a yogurt maker if you want it, I just don't use it.
Fun, Fun!

Be sure not to leave your yogurt straining for a whole day! I did that once and wound up with a SOLID chunk of yogurt. Haha... I make yogurt on the stove myself and can't get enough of it. Much cheaper, and you know exactly what's in it.

My next goal is to figure our kefir. A friend from church makes her own, so I'm hoping to get a starter from her.
