Our computer died two nights ago. It wouldn't boot up, and it's only 2 years old. It wasn't a cheap computer, either, because Jason needed a heavy-duty one to do his audio production on. We sort of panicked. I didn't want to take it to Best Buy because their Geek Squad charges and arm and a leg just to look at the computer. So I googled something like, "Computer Repair Champaign," and found the GeekyGuys. Their website was towards the top of the list, and they looked pretty darn legitimate. Plus they have their office in the M1 building in downtown champaign, which is a "hip" office building. I didn't even call for a quote, because I was feeling desperate. I just sent an email to them via their website (www.geekyguys.com), told them our computer was broken, and asked when I could drop it off. Their response? "We'll pick it up today, at lunch." So they came to my house, picked up the offender, and whisked it away about 30 seconds later. Part of me thought, "I wonder if I'll ever see our computer again..." But, sure enough, I had an email from them this morning saying it was fixed, and I would get an invoice via email soon. When I asked what was wrong with it, they explained something about a boot order in BIOS. or something. Anyway, I was dreading getting the invoice. BUT. I am amazed. They are clearly honest, because they wrote that it took .6 hours to work on the computer. No rounding up there! The total charge? $39.00. No tax, no charge for pickup/drop off, no separate diagnostic charge. Just an hourly charge of $35.00 calculated out to exactly the time they spent on our computer.
So anyway. If you ever need your computer fixed, CALL THEM. They also do networking and sell computers and a bunch of other stuff. They were really nice, fast communicators, and the price pretty much can't be beat. So there's my plug. And no, I'm not getting paid for this.
