This morning I was telling God how anxious I am to get to certain things I'm looking forward to. New house, expanding my doula-ing, getting more certifications, etc... I was sort of jolted to reality when I felt my heart whisper that there is something to be said for having joy in the JOURNEY rather than the destination. The ultimate destination is heaven, but God gives me each day for a reason. If I keep pining for the next thing, the next thing, the next thing, I'm going to miss the current things. I've told Jason more than once that I feel like life just blows right past me--and it's my own fault! I am so "far-sighted" that I can't see or appreciate what's right in front of me. Talk about a reality check. I'm not quite sure how to appreciate every minute of every day yet, but it's definitely something I need to work on. There is joy in the journey of life, not just the destinations that we think we ought to look forward to.

Hey Jill! Thanks for this reminder. It is definitely a good thing for me to remember right now... as my "destination" of motherhood is right around the corner, and I'm trying to find the joy of EACH DAY--not just pining for the birth of the baby. :)
